Big Walker!!!!

Weekend of Firsts!

We had a great time in southern california visiting Mark's parents for Thanksgiving. Kai had a big weekend, taking his first steps, getting his first haircut and making his first trip to Disneyland. We actually went to Downtown Disney and checked out all the cool shops, then got some mouse ears and peeked through the fence at the park. We thought it'd be a fun preview for Kai for when we visit again next summer and actually go inside. It was a beautiful weekend, with weather in the 80's and it was nice to have lots of time outdoors soaking up the sunshine.

Scrunch Face

This is Kai's new face isn't he the cutest?!?!? I mean who could resist this sweet silly little boy?

Musical pots and thanks

Kai had fun playing his musical pots today. He also took his first few steps yesterday!!!! We got a little video and will post it when we get back home. I have no doubt soon he will be running :)

We are so thankful for this little guy and although we say it a lot already, we are especially thankful to his birth parents. Being Kai's mom and dad is the best gift we will ever receive. He is such a joy in our lives and we couldn't love him more.

Kai's birthday festivities

We had Kai's birthday party on Saturday, the day before his actual birthday, then on Sunday, Mark, Kai and I spent the morning visiting some of Kai's favorites spots:

We started with one of our favorite diners - look how happy daddy is about his coffee :)

Then we walked over to the bridge and looked at the water

Then we went to the face fountain (which we didn't get a picture of) and then to the church fountain - I love Kai's happy little smile in this shot. He's so pleased

Kai also got his birthday present from us that same day - a play kitchen!

He loves, loves, loves this thing. It's his go to toy lately, which is rewarding since we probably spent 200 hours trying to find the "perfect" kitchen :)

He also got a bunch of other super cool toys, here's some of the favorites:
A cool latch board

 A super fun wagon

 Some awesome instruments

And a funky fresh keyboard - I'm not kidding when I say, you HAVE to watch this video...Kai even plays the keyboard with his toes - no joke! And hip hop daddy is pretty funny too :)

Who loves to go on walks?

Fun weekend!

We had a great weekend. On Saturday we went down to San Rafael and had a yummy breakfast. There is a place there that makes deep fried french toast...no I'm not kidding. It's seriously the best thing ever! We don't go there often for obvious reasons, but it was my birthday weekend so we thought why not? As usual Kai loved being out and about and socializing with all the people. He is so cute and funny. He blows kisses to people and just loves watching everyone whenever we go anywhere. Everyone always says how happy he is, which is nice to hear. He is a happy little guy.

After breakfast we headed down to the discovery museum which was lots of fun. Kai is finally big enough to actually enjoy some of the play areas they have and he dove right in.

Kai having a blast on daddy's shoulders with the golden gate in the background!

Checking out the waterbed crawl spots

 Hey this is cool!

Whoa wait a second I'm not too sure about this

Look at the froggies in the tubes! They blow bubbles!

Crawling toward mama in the little tunnel

Practicing pushing a block through the hole

Next we headed outside for some water time! Check out these cool fish!

Daddy joking around - silly daddy.

 The fish tamer

 Check out this giant turtle!

On Sunday we hung out around the house and Kai painted me a picture for my birthday, it was messy but fun - we called him Kaicasso :) He wasn't really interested in using the paintbrush so we just went for it with the finger painting.

Later that night mommy and daddy went out to dinner and grandma and grandpa watched Kai. It was fun having a real grown up date night! Overall a fantastic weekend.
