Video Pile Up

There are a few videos I have been wanting to share so I thought I would post them all here together. Buckle up for some cute, poignant and just plain awesome video footage from our favorite little man.

This first one is from today after preschool he was singing the itsy bitsy spider (well really the big and hairy spider) so I thought I'd see if he'd sing it for me on video. (Kai often gets shy once I turn the camera on - especially with stuff like this). He decided to have his doggy sing for me instead :)

This one is from a few weeks ago - some beat boxing for daddy

This last one is from when we were in Oceanside this summer. I had recently read him a story called Tell Me Again About The Night I Was Born by Jaimee Lee Curtis. Her daughter was also adopted and the story tells about how they got a call and rushed to the hospital, and so on. When I read the book to Kai he asked me to tell him about the night he was born so of course I did. Then out of the blue when we were in Oceanside I was videoing him because he had said something cute and completely out of the blue he asked me again to tell him about the night he was born.

Camping in the Redwoods

Somehow the summer slipped away from us and we realized a few weeks ago we haven't been camping since April! How did that happen?!

We made our minds up to get in at least one trip before it gets too cold. So in the spirit of outdoorsin' it, we headed up the the redwoods this past weekend to a place called Richardson Grove. We hadn't been there in 8 years and it was just what we needed. It was beyond beautiful. The trees are so majestic and a true reminder of what a small spec within the giant universe we all are.

Kai had a blast and it was fun for us all to sleep together in the tent - doggies and all!

Of course we made s'mores and had lots of fun getting VERY dirty and climbing on lots of trees.

Here's a little sneak peek into our awesome campsite

Kai and daddy climbing on a nearby tree

More climbing

A tree cave!

Kai climbed up! Wait! Who is that other silly guy peeking out?!

Someone is very pleased with himself

Lego garbage truck and fire truck were a fun addition to the trees

He takes his scrambling duties very seriously

Family photo! Kai was shining his flashlight directly onto the camera - good aim!

River time - this is very close to a picture we took the last time we were here, but the old one just has Mark and Marley in it!

Here's the old shot...love how our family has changed!

Kai and daddy climb a tree

Hi!

Prepping for dinner - or din-din as Kai likes to call it.
Hotdogs, corn and baked beans - yum!

Grubby feet

Daddy the photobomber

Roasting marshmallows for s'mores and Kai is "prepping" his chocolate and graham cracker by laying his head on it...? This is a technique I am not familiar with.

Perfectly roasted - yum!

Another tree to climb!

Mossy love

Mr. Happy-pants

On the road home thinking about the fun time we had

Hey! let's stop at the drive thru tree!

I hopped out to take the picture and Kai got to ride up front with daddy!!

They made it!

It's pretty cool to stand inside a giant tree

At a nearby meadow and small lake.

Here's a few more pictures from mine and Marks trip 8 years ago...it's so fun to do things like this with Kai, we wanted to be parents for such a long time it really is a dream come true for us sharing things like this as a family.

A different drive thru tree - look who is in the passenger seat this time! ha ha!
