Me & Big Stander :)

Kai was very excited when I sat down to play guitar with him this morning and Jenna snapped this shot. He shimmied his way off the orange ottoman and onto me! He is becoming stronger and more mobile every day. Jenna is not exaggerating when she says Kai likes to stand all the time. He LOVES to stand all the time! Im going to try & post a longer message about some of the other fun things Kai has been up to recently later this week.

Big stander loves to stand. He pretty much is always either standing or making his way to somewhere he can pull himself up to stand these days. It's really cute, he is very happy about his new found talent.

Good Morning!

Big stander was ready and waiting when daddy went in to get him this morning!

The funniest part about this is just last night when Mark and I got into bed I said, we need to lower the crib mattress to the lowest position because before we know it, Kai will be pulling himself up in the morning. I guess I know what I'm doing today :)

Kai's new moves

Kai is becoming more and more independent, just recently he has started lifting his belly up off the floor and rocking back and forth which I've read is a precurser to an all fours crawl - not the army crawl he's been doing where he drags his tummy on the floor. Yesterday he started trying out this new move, kicking one leg up while balancing on two hands and one leg! Nice move!

He has also just started pulling himself up to stand by using small pieces of furniture around the house. 

 He is VERY pleased with himself :)

He even has the war wounds to show for it, check out the new bruise on the right side of his forehead from a topple yesterday while trying to perfect his craft.

It's bumper to bumper on the rainbow bridge!

Kai got a new toy handed down from his cousin and he loves it. It's a little doorway that has all kinds of buttons and sounds. It even has a little shoot on the side where you can pop balls in and they fall down into a small bowl then spin around. Something we're learning about kids toys is they often say, or even sing kind of weird things. This one is no exception and has a button that when you push it it says "It's bumper to bumper on the rainbow bridge!" I couldn't make this stuff up! SO funny! Anyway, here's Kai playing with his new doorway with daddy and Ruby supervising. A total Sunday slice of life - on the rainbow bridge :)

PS This pic also illustrates the current state of affairs in Kai's play area, we call it the Toy Tornado! haha

We got a little blow up pool for Kai and daddy busted it out yesterday for a little cool down on a hot day. Kai really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if he would protest since the water was cold, but he didn't mind at all!

Silly Kai and Happy birthday to someone special

The other day my mom was up for a visit and after Kai had his diaper changed he wanted to stand and look out the window from his changing table. Grandma Tutu obliged and I went outside to wave at him from the porch. So silly.

We also want to wish Kai's birth mother a happy birthday! We are so blessed to have you in our lives and are so grateful for the amazing gift you have given us.  We hope you have a wonderful day and a fun celebration! xoxo

Oceanside 2011

We had a great time down at the beach with Mark's family. His grandma has some houses right across the street from the beach, it is such a wonderful place to spend time relaxing, there is nothing like hearing the sounds of the ocean 24/7. Kai loved it too! He even put his feet in the ocean again and didn't cry this time!
