Kai's first time to the movie theatre

We went to see Planes - Fire and Rescue today. We all loved it, but what made it especially note worthy is it was Kai's first time seeing a movie in the movie theater!! He really enjoyed it and has already asked if we can go again. The first of many fun trips to the movies :) here's a photo a snapped while we were waiting for it to start. Kai was all geared up in his noise canceling headphones. And the second photo is one just before we went in the sit down.

Got Sunblock??!

After some Hawaii-like weather earlier this week... it got HOT! A trip to Monte Rio & the Russian River today with one of Kai's BFF's Jayden :)

 

Whirlwind July

This month has been a whirlwind of activity! Starting off with the 4th, then we headed down to Southern California for some beach time with Marks family then a good friends wedding this past weekend. It's been fun and a little crazy. But good crazy. I have a few photos from the fourth and our trip down south that I can share here but there will be more to come soon. Happy July!!

The Letter P

Lately Kai has been stretching out his bedtime by playing in his room after his usual bedtime routine. We usually just let him do his thing knowing it won't take long for him to grow tired and finally lay down and give it up. There have been a couple nights when we have had to go in and remind him it's now time to stay in bed and try to go to sleep. 

As you can imagine there are all kinds of conversations that happen during these times. He tells us lots of funny tidbits about almost anything you can think of mostly about the event of that day, but tonight what he told Mark made us both laugh so hard so we had to share.

Kai has a rug in his room that has the alphabet on it and there have been a few times when we have gone in and noticed he has - for a previously unknown reason - spit his water out onto the rug. As Mark was leaving tonight he noticed there was water on the rug again and he says "Kai, the rug is wet, why is the rug wet?" Kai says "Mama doesn't like the P, so I spit my water on the P" Mark says "Kai , mama doesn't NOT like the letter P, she doesn't like potty talk. There are lots of good words that start with the letter P, like popcorn, cheese puffs, party..."

Ha ha ha! You can't make this stuff up! Such a funny little guy - good to know he's looking out for me, when it comes to that pesky little letter.

Kai's first year of preschool

Kai's last day of preschool was a few weeks ago and I have been meaning to post about it. I took a picture of him on the last day but sadly it was lost on my phone that sunk to the bottom of the creek.

One of the super cute things his teachers did was save artwork he made throughout the year then they compiled it into a little book that the parents were presented with on the last day. These are some shots from Kai's book.

He came a long way this year it started out with him crying his eyes out when I left him gripping tightly to his blanket - big blue. To running through the doors on arrival and growing into the leader of the little boys crew he ran with and leaving big blue at home.

He's such a funny, smart and rambunctious kid. It has been fun seeing him grow this last year. We love you Kai!

Swimming Lessons!

Kai's swimming lessons have begun and he is doing great! It's been three days so far and everytime we go he whines and cries about going - how he doesn't want to put his head under water - yada yada and then everytime when he gets out he tells me "that was fu-un!" So cute. Today we got to try out his new prescription goggles (no photos yet) which were great because now he can actually see while he's swimming. I will do another post next week toward the end of his two week session so you can see his progress, it's so fun to see him kicking away, jumping off the side and dunking under water. He will be swimming on his own before we know it! For now this is an awesome intro to being in the waer and getting used to some different techniques.
